How Jack dropped 30 pounds without dieting

Before we go on with this article, I want to you to look at the picture below.

His name is Jack, a dear friend of mine. Jack has gone from 180 pounds to 150 pounds in just short 4 months! Before he started to lose weight, he has failed numerous yo-yo diet. He finally decided diet is not the way!

How did he manage the weight loss? What did he do? Here’s my conversation with him.

Me: What’s your secret, really?
Jack: There’s really no secret to weight loss. I just concentrate on healthy living, coupled with positive attitude and consistent workout.

Me: How did you eat healthily?
Jack: I’ve made changes to my daily meals. For example
• Replace soft drinks with fruit juice(without sugar) and pure water;
• Cut off sugar as much as possible;
• Eating pure whole grain in the morning instead of sticky rice;
• Stop eating fatty meats and red meats. Instead, I eat lean meat like chicken breast and fish;
• Using olive oil to cook;

I always prepare my meals before going to office. My lunch box usually consists of 4 slices of bread with low fat spread, and few serving of fruits and veggies. I try to eat in small portion every other hour so I don’t feel hungry. For example I will have a slice of bread at 10am, and piece of fruits at 11am. If you eat frequently, it helps to boost metabolism too!

When I dine out, I always plan ahead and choose restaurants which offer healthy meals. If I decided to indulge myself, I always share the foods with other people. The key is to keep the portion small. In addition, it is advisable to go for mustard instead of mayo as the spice helps to boost metabolism.

Me: What about workout?
Jack: I like to workout at home. The truth is you don’t need to go outside or pay for expensive gym to stay in shape. I have a treadmill at home. I workout 3 times per week. Each workout consists of 15 minutes in weight training and 45 minutes in cardio exercise. You don’t have to workout everyday as you must allow your body to rest too! I recently found out that there are a lot of useful info on workout readily available from internet, such as this one. So it’s really not an excuse to not exercise!

Me: Wow that is very persistent of you. Don’t you ever encounter setbacks?
Jack: Of course sometimes I feel frustrated and feel like giving up. However, you have to remember why you are doing this and what your goal is.
I remember hitting plateau at some point, I just stop losing weight! I thought I was doing something wrong, or not training hard enough. The truth is everyone hit plateau eventually. I just keep going, break the plateau and the weight start to drop off again! I came to know that I am not only losing weight, but am packing up muscles too!

Me: So how do you feel now?
Jack: I feel confident and happy with my achievement. Now that I’ve reached my ideal weight, I will be maintaining it. I feel more energetic with the new lifestyle and this will be my way of life! I guess my only complaint is that I have to get new set of cloth- the old ones are just too loose for me now!

You can be like Jack too! Imagine how you will look like when you lose the extra pounds! I hope to interview you as the next success story!
