Birmingham 3 day cardiac diet Review

Lose 10 pounds in 3 days! Lose 30 pounds in 40 days! Who wouldn’t want to lose weight fast? If you are constantly looking at the solution to your weight loss problem, the Birmingham 3 Day Cardiac diet may have answer for you.
All you have to do is to follow their menu strictly (we have included the plan and menu at the end of this article), and you can lose weight fast without exercise, surgery and pills. Sound intriguing isn’t it? Not so…

Sorry to disappoint you, but the Birmingham 3 day Cardiac Diet will not work- ever! Here’s why:

  1. The diet is extremely low in calories: we did some rough estimation, and here’s the breakdown of the daily calories:
    Day 1: 1035
    Day 2: 1020
    Day 3: 1040
    As you can see, the Birmingham 3 day Cardiac diet is extremely low in calories. When you consume very low calories, your body is forced to enter “starvation mode”. It may result in muscle loss and hurt your metabolism. What’s worse, when you resume your regular diet from starvation diet, it is very likely that you gain all the weight back. When the weight is gain, it is largely fat instead of muscles.
    In a nutshell, if you lose weight with Birmingham 3 day Cardiac diet, it is largely due to water or muscles loss instead of fat burning.
  2. The Birmingham hospital does not endorse this diet: contrary to popular belief, this diet is not associated with UAB Health System (Heart of Health Care, Birmingham, Alabama). You can read more from the following link:

    In short, here are few key points they stressed:

    • The diet is not scientifically proven. At such, the long term safety and effectiveness of this diet is not known.
    • If you lose weight, you can be rest assured you are losing muscle tissue and water instead of fat.
    • The diet is high in fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol – the main dietary culprits related to heart disease. It also is high in sodium and low in whole grains.

Conclusion: The Birmingham 3 Day Cardiac diet is not recommended!
 

Birmingman 3 day Cardiac Diet Menu
FIRST DAY

Breakfast:
Black coffee or tea
½ grapefruit
1 slice toast
2 tbs. peanut butter

Lunch:
½ cup of tuna (no mayo)
1 slice toast
Coffee or tea

Dinner:
2 slices of any meat
1 cup of string beans
1 cup of beets
1 apple
1 cup of vanilla ice cream

SECOND DAY
Breakfast:
1 egg
½ banana
1 slice of toast
Black coffee or tea

Lunch:
1 cup cottage cheese
5 saltines

Dinner:
2 hotdogs
1 cup broccoli
½ cup of carrots
½ banana (the other half from breakfast)
½ cup vanilla ice cream

THIRD DAY

Breakfast:
5 saltines
1 slice cheddar cheese
1 apple
Black Coffee or tea

Lunch:
1 hard boiled egg
1 slice toast

Dinner:
1 cup of tuna
1 cup beets
1 cup cauliflower
½ cantaloupe
½ cup vanilla ice cream

Day One: 1035
Day Two: 1020
Day Three: 1040
